In this series of blog posts we will create a Microsoft Azure and Entra ID home lab. Hiring managers are looking for IT professionals who have at least a working understanding of Azure and Entra ID. By following along with these posts, you can create your own home lab that you can document and show to prospective employers.
Lab Overview
In this lab, we will create a Microsoft Entra ID tenant and then a Microsoft Azure account.
A virtual network will be configured in Azure. Then a virtual machine (VM) will be created in Azure with the Windows Server 2022 Datacenter operating system. Then the VM will be connected to the virtual network.
Remote access will be configured for the VM. Then we will access the VM remotely using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and a VPN service.
Windows Server 2022 will be configured on the Azure VM to simulate an on-premises server. Entra Cloud Sync will be installed on the server, and on-premises user identities can be synced with the Entra ID tenant.
